The Complete Guide to DigiYatra: How to Fly with Just Your Face
Curious about DigiYatra? This is your ultimate guide! We'll walk you through everything you need to know, from setting up the app to what to expect at the airport, so you can fly with zero stress.
Tired of Airport Queues? Here’s Your Full Guide to Flying with Just Your Face!
The airport experience can be a bit overwhelming, with all the lines, security checks, and document juggling. But imagine if you could breeze through it all without ever needing to show your boarding pass or ID. That's the incredible vision behind DigiYatra!
DigiYatra is an initiative by the Government of India that uses facial recognition technology to make your airport journey seamless, paperless, and contactless. It’s completely optional, but with over 17 million users and average time savings of 15-25 minutes at checkpoints, it’s a game-changer you'll want to try.
Your Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started with DigiYatra
Getting set up is easier than you might think. Just follow these simple steps!
Step 1: Get the Official App Head to your app store and download the DigiYatra app. It's free and available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
Step 2: Create Your Account & Digital ID This is where the magic happens! You will securely upload your ID (Aadhaar or Passport) and take a quick selfie. The app will then verify your details and link your unique face scan to your identity.
Step 3: Link Your Flight Before you leave for the airport, simply open the app and add your upcoming flight details. The app will generate a special QR code for you.
What to Expect at the Airport
Using DigiYatra at the airport is incredibly simple. Here's a quick walkthrough of what your journey will look like:
Airport Entry Gate: Simply scan the QR code from your app, look at the camera for a quick face scan, and the gate will open.
Security Checkpoint: At security, you’ll just need to look into the camera again. Your face scan will automatically match your details with your boarding pass, and you can walk right through.
Boarding Gate: The same process repeats at the boarding gate. Your face is your boarding pass, allowing you to board the flight without any hassle.
A Quick Word on Your Privacy
We know you might have questions about security, and that’s a good thing! DigiYatra is designed with your privacy in mind. Your facial data is encrypted and stored securely on your own phone—not on a central government server. The data is only used temporarily at the airport and is automatically deleted within 24 hours of your flight. Your privacy and security are in your hands.
